A HOME AWAY FROM HOME FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

'Rojavanam' literally means A 'Garden of Roses,' a peaceful place where senior citizens dwell in an atmosphere of compassion and affection. Here they can enjoy a life as if they were at home.
We have two such Rojavanams, Senior Citizens Care and Protection Centres, catering to the much desired needs of the inmates. One centre is situated in Nagercoil Town, the headquarters of Kanyakumari district, close to District Collector's Office, and the other one at the land's end, Kanyakumari. At present 64 inmates and 183 outpatients are in the centre. We have a dedicated team of 42 qualified and experienced personnel to take care of the inmates.

Now, the Rojavanams are functioning in rented buildings. The monthly rent consumes a major chunk of our meagre income which we receive from a few well-wishers and philanthropists. Further, to provide extra amenities for the inmates, and to accommodate 150 senior citizens we are planning to construct a multi-storeyed building with a total area of around 25,000 square feet. It would cost around INR 50000,000 (USD 850,000).

Needs to be met with are:

  • Basic Infrastructure development
  • Financial assistance such as nutrition expenses
  • Cots, beds, pillows, sheets and clothings.
  • Kitchen utensils
  • Dining tables and chairs
  • Ambulance
  • Medical equipments and drugs
  • Humanitarian Volunteers

We seek the noble and kind assistance from people for constructing the 150 bedded Multi Speciality Aged Care Centre. We welcome your generous assistance by cash or in kind. Please make this known to friends, relatives and well wishers and make them help for this noble humanitarian service.

LIGHTS LAMPS IN THE LIFE OF DRUG ADDICTS

Invites donations for constructing Rehabilitation Centre

Athencottasan Muthamizh Kazhagam (AMK) has been rendering service in Mondaikadu in Kanyakumari District with its 15 bedded rehabilitation centre for the last 18 years. Till now it has helped nearly 15,000 people to come out of addiction and has been recognized by the Central and State Governments. Governments and other Social Forums have bestowed it with awards for its humanitarian services.

The organization helps the people to come out of the clutches of drug addiction and live a peaceful life with their family. For this, counselling service is given through specialized psychological and medical team.

Not only people of Kanyakumari district, but people from other districts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala avail its services.

To meet the growing need for its service, AMK is now initiating to increase the number of beds to 50. Further it is taking efforts to promote a research centre in this field. It is estimated that Rs.2.5 crores will be needed for this noble cause. As a process of this initiative half acre of land has been provided by noble hearts of Nagercoil near the railway station. The value of this land is estimated to be Rs.1 crore.

We are now seeking your assistance to build a Rehabilitation Centre with an area of 15,000 sq.ft to accommodate 50 inmates with all facilities.

SPECIALTIES
  • Monthly 50 drug addicts will get treatment as inpatients
  • More than 100 mentally sick people get quality treatment as outpatients
  • As the centre is situated at the centre of the town it will be easily accessible for the family members of the affected / sick people who come for counselling
  • All sections of the community will avail Yoga and other mental refresher trainings
  • 24 hours medical care and treatment
  • 24 hours free telephone facility
  • Helpful for the school and college students for research works
  • It will be a venue for conducting seminars and conferences for doctors and specialists
  • It will cater the needs of the students for conducting Awareness Training and Capacity Building.
  • It will also be a place for conducting Entrepreneurship trainings, Skill Development Trainings and Free Legal Aid facility

The centre will not only help the drug addicts to come out of their grave situation, but also stops future generation from drug addiction.
